What type of company is H.H. Hoy Outdoor Living?
H.H. Hoy is a premium residential landscape design and build firm serving homeowners across the Triangle. We design and build — meaning we develop a plan and then execute it. We are not a lawn mowing or routine maintenance company. Our work includes landscape renovations, custom hardscapes, planting, drainage, lighting, and lawn installation.
What size projects do you accept?
Our projects generally begin at $2,500. Cleanup and enhancement work starts at that level. Planting, drainage, and lighting projects typically begin around $5,000. Hardscape, design and build, and complete renovation projects typically begin around $10,000. We do not accept routine lawn mowing or ordinary maintenance contracts at this time.
Do you provide routine lawn mowing?
No. H.H. Hoy does not currently offer routine lawn mowing or ordinary weekly maintenance. Our focus is on design, installation, and improvements — the kind of work that transforms a property rather than maintains it. If you are looking for routine mowing, we are happy to point you in the right direction.
Working with Us
Is the initial consultation free?
Yes. The initial property consultation is complimentary. Mike or Zach will visit your property, listen to your goals, evaluate the conditions, and begin identifying practical solutions — at no charge.
Do you charge for landscape design?
Simple projects may move directly to a detailed proposal without a separate design fee. More complex projects — those that require a full design before we can develop an accurate scope and price — may involve a separate design fee. We will explain any design fee clearly before design work begins.
Will you tell me if my idea is not right for my property?
Yes, and that is one of the most important things we can offer. Mike's approach is to understand your goals, evaluate your property honestly, and tell you what will actually work — not just what you want to hear. If we believe a different approach would serve you better, we will say so. If we believe you do not need a project at all, we will tell you that too. Trust is more valuable to us than any single sale.
Will Mike or Zach be personally involved in my project?
Yes. Mike and Zach personally help start major projects with the homeowner and crew and remain involved throughout the work. You are not dealing with a salesperson who disappears after the contract is signed. If a question or concern comes up during a project, you have a direct line to the person responsible.
Do you stand behind your work?
We plan to do the work correctly the first time. If we make a mistake, we will take responsibility and make it right. We will not point fingers or disappear when something is not right. That accountability is a core part of how H.H. Hoy operates.
What happens after I submit the consultation form?
Our team reviews every inquiry carefully and will contact you to discuss your project, property, timing and budget. If we appear to be a good fit, we will schedule a complimentary property visit. We take a personal approach to every inquiry — this is not an automated system.
Pricing and Payment
How do you handle project pricing?
We work from a written scope and contract. Before work begins, you will know exactly what is included, what it will cost, how payments are structured, and when work is scheduled to take place. We do not add charges that were never discussed. Final pricing depends on the specific conditions of your property, the scope of the project, materials, and design requirements. The general starting prices on this site are guidance only — not estimates.
